EMPOWERED Voices: Recovery to Resiliency

A heartfelt podcast series that brings to light the challenges and triumphs of families navigating substance use during and after pregnancy. Through compelling stories, expert insights, and actionable guidance, this series aims to empower listeners with understanding, compassion, and tools for support. From personal struggles to collective resilience, each episode is designed to foster empathy, break down stigmas, and promote healing within families and communities.

Amani Wilson

Amani Wilson serves as the Program Coordinator at EMPOWERED, warmly welcoming visitors with a smile and ensuring smooth office operations. With prior experience working with children across all age groups, Amani holds a BS in Psychology. Inspired by the opportunity to uplift others in recovery, Amani finds fulfillment in being a cheerleader for mothers on their journey. What excites her most about EMPOWERED is the chance to give back to a program that transformed her own life, fostering resiliency. Amani's passion for music shines through her proficiency in the viola and violin, along with her desire to open a recording studio, fueled by her associate degree in music business and technology.

Farzad Kamyar, MD

Farzad Kamyar MD, board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, provides psychiatric supervision for the EMPOWERED program at Roseman University College of Medicine in Southern Nevada. Within Psychiatry, he has a passion for treating Substance Use Disorders, especially during pregnancy. He is a firm believer that the medical community needs to approach care for mental health no differently than for other chronic diseases like diabetes or hypertension, and should be evidence-informed, nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empathic in the delivery of care.

Jason Roth

As Executive Producer of the award-winning "EMPOWERED Voices: Recovery to Resiliency" podcast, Jason Roth helps amplify stories of recovery and resilience while providing valuable resources to the community.

He serves as Vice President for Communications & Partnerships at Roseman University of Health Sciences, where he leads university-wide strategic communications and manages key partnerships with organizations like the Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson Silver Knights. Since joining Roseman in 2006 and advancing to his current role in 2020, Jason has been instrumental in elevating the university's visibility and strengthening stakeholder connections. He oversees the Communications Team, managing media relations, social media, creative services, and website development and maintenance, while serving on Roseman's Administrative Council.
